February has arrived, and there are definite signs of spring everywhere - in the country the catkins are shimmering in the wind and the Wild Arum is springing up green and lush. And in the garden we have hellebores, snowdrops, crocus, and the beautiful smelling and unusual flowers of Witch Hazel - ribbons of light.
So much rain, but still no snow this winter, and the temperatures are a couple of degrees higher than average for this time of year.
Will Punxsutawney Phil see his shadow?
So much rain, but still no snow this winter, and the temperatures are a couple of degrees higher than average for this time of year.
Will Punxsutawney Phil see his shadow?
Ah, hush! Tread softly through the rime,
For there will be a blackbird singing, or a thrush.
Like coloured beads the elm-buds flush:
All the trees dream of leaves and flowers and light.
And see! The northern bank is much more white
Than frosty grass, for now is snowdrop time.
